While I’m dancing, moving becomes the way of sensing again—something intelligent, something that the body deeply knows, but that the functionality of daily life often makes us forget. So that can be experienced as a way of returning attention to this primary relationship between the body and the ground. When I’m the choreographer, that becomes the way of insisting on the thinking and learning capacities of the body, and looking for the new through its own technologies. So that becomes a practice of opening new ways of experiencing what it means to be alive.

Thiago Granato is a Brazilian dance artist based in Berlin. His choreographic practice explores movement as a site for aesthetic innovation and political transformation. He studied choreography at Ex.e.r.ce 8 in Montpellier (2008) and the NPP Master at Uniarts Stockholm (2021). His work has been presented internationally, alongside an active practice as educator and collaborator in diverse artistic contexts. Website • Instagram
