Choreography to me is an embodied composition practice, in the sense that it cultivates an inner gut feeling for time, space, images and what they mean in the context of a performance. I believe this gut feeling can be trained and challenged. For me it also always includes a lot of text, reading, writing and wording thoughts, but the body is always the anchor of my practice. This is how I access a sensorial entry point into everything I do and it is through the body that I perceive what really moves me.

Claire Lefèvre is a femme choreographer, insomniac writer, and reality TV enthusiast currently based in Vienna, Austria. She likes to think of herself as a hostess, welcoming collaborators and audience members into kitsch landscapes where politics and poetics are gently interwoven. Behind the scenes, she is exploring the archetype and working methods of a performance doula, a role imagined to disinvisibilize care work in the context of performance making. Website • Instagram
