“To me, choreography is kind of painting my observation in the space, using some tools, some elements, and body always in the core. What interests me most are not necessarily extraordinary moments, but the ordinary ones that are always around us and have become part of everyday life—so familiar or repetitive that we sometimes stop noticing them. I zoom in and zoom out, try to stay there, take time or change angle, but still keep looking at them; noticing the space in between, the movement in between… or invisible moments.”

Shirin Farshbaf is a dance and performance artist from Iran currently living in Austria. She holds a bachelor’s degree in theatre direction and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in art education at MUK University of Vienna. Her performative works reflect the state of society and explore the transformation of the body through diverse possibilities of movement. She is interested in interdisciplinary art and the convergence of visual, physical, and sonic experiments in collaborative environments, with a particular focus on body-based practices, somatic exploration, and dance therapy. The core of her conceptual work remains the body in relation to materials, contexts, and situations. Website • Instagram
