Ka•keshan is an evolving space for choreographic creation and dance outreach • It was founded in 2017 on an understanding of the Iranian dance community’s pressing need to have access to a reliable meeting point • The aim was to acknowledge and strengthen the potential scene despite the lack of an organized support •
After three years of building a vibrant dance community in Tehran, Ka•keshan’s activities came to an abrupt halt in late 2020 due to the “socio-political deterioration” in Iran •
Following a four-year period of reflection and transformation, Ka•keshan was revived in Europe, where it continues its original mission while responding to the realities of a dispersed community • Today, it fosters choreographic exchange and collaboration across borders, connecting artists in the diaspora with broader international dance communities •
Ka•keshan unfolds through a constellation of projects and modalities, including Astr*Lab (movement research formation), Constellation (exchange modality), Satellite (mobility aid), Gravity (sharing event), Outer Space (exploration visit), Elephant (choreographic creation), Wormhole Ventures (online series), Somatic Days (public event), and Stargazing Event (a public format related to the Wormhole project) •
